Ridiculum Comedy

I co-founded Ridiculum Comedy Club in the fall of 2018, my first year at Villanova University.  The club began as an improv troupe that performed once a semester. Since then, I've expanded the club to include a stand-up branch and increased performances to five times a semester while still packing the audience. These included on-campus performances at events sponsored by the university's Campus Activity Team and the1842 Day Annual Day of Giving Committee, and off-campus in Philadelphia at the Philadelphia Improv Theater and in the Collegiate Comedy Challenge at Comedy Sportz Philadelphia.

I have served as the Director of Treasury, Director of Communication, and Vice President. In the spirit of improv and "Yes And..." I haven't sought out the highest stature role but applied myself where ever my drive to improve the club is most needed for the make-up of the executive board. As a result, I have experience managing funds, communicating with club members and the university, resolving club issues, giving constructive feedback on improv, and organizing workshops, performances, and bonding events. My leadership positions gave me experience leading a group of people and learning how to deal with individuals in unique ways that felt approachable but also best developed their comedic abilities. Additionally, I always ensure that senses of trust, respect, and love are at the forefront of every club member. I believe these pillars are the foundation for a good comedy group and what has helped Ridiculum grow in its adolescent years.

Ridiculum has allowed me to improve my comedy skills, both by myself through rehearsal and performance experience, as well as with others by observing other members' performances, learning what works for them, and assisting them in writing and editing their content for performances. I believe each individual has their own sense of humor and I enjoy seeing how that manifests in each person and what I can learn from it. I'm incredibly proud of what Ridiculum has grown into and where it will continue to grow, and could not be more appreciative of the skills and confidence Ridiculum has helped me develop.
