Don't Start A Podcast

Don't Start A Podcast is my first independent solo project. As an avid podcast consumer, and motivated by a desire to throw my hat into the content game, I came up with the idea of a series of one-off podcasts that satirize different genres. From a sports show that uses astrology as its basis of analysis to a crime podcast where the host has committed the crime himself, each episode takes the basic ideas of podcasts and blows them out to their absurdity. The general theme, ironically, is that this episode is proof of why not everyone should start a podcast. (Maybe I should follow my own advice!)

I created the project, wrote the scripts, and recorded, edited, and produced each episode. The various voices are provided by my friends in my college comedy club, Ridiculum. This project emphasizes my self-taught "creative" skills. I was the lead on each part of the project and experienced hands-on learning, preparing me for future projects. The project improved my ability to write in alternate voices, imagine and realize wacky characters, and direct people to voice them. My experience in stand-up and assisting in writing other people's stand-ups helped prepare me to write in voices that aren't my own.

Volume One was released in the Summer of 2022 on most major streaming platforms, and Volume Two is set to begin on October 31st, 2022.
